North Korea has become “more opaque” to the outside world following a decision by YouTube to silence an official propaganda channel, a monitoring group has warned, as new sanctions over Pyongyang’s nuclear programme begin to bite.
Kim Jong Un: North Korea threatens the United States
Observers have long relied on state-run news for glimpses into Pyongyang’s shadowy regime and weapons programme, but one such source — the Uriminzokkiri channel — went dark earlier this month.
YouTube “has cut off a vital supply of video used by open source researchers, which means there is now less visibility into what’s happening in North Korea,” said Martyn Williams in a commentary published Friday on the respected 38 North website, which focuses on North Korea analysis.
“The Western world’s understanding of North Korea is limited to begin with, cutting off access to these few windows into North Korean thinking and life further hampers our knowledge of the country.”
YouTube first pulled the channel in early September with a message stating that it was in violation of “community standards” and the page currently has a notice that it is subject to a “legal complaint”.
The Google-owned company was not immediately available for comment.
Academics use official footage of missile launches and visits to factories by the North’s leader Kim Jong-Un to gain rare insights into the progress of the country’s weapons programmes.
Williams said the YouTube move “served to highlight the sometimes-unintended consequences of sanctions”.
North Korea was slapped with tough new restrictions this month after it conducted its sixth and largest nuclear test, following months of increasingly brazen missile launches.
The United Nations measures include limits on oil shipments into the country and a ban on lucrative textile exports from the North.
The resolution also imposes asset freezes on government agencies including the country’s Propaganda and Agitation Department, which the UN said has “has full control over the media”.
Experts have raised concerns over further punishing the already deeply isolated North, which pressed on with nuclear and missile tests in defiance of a slew of previous embargoes.

This is arguably the most beautiful story I have received on whatsapp!
A lady worked at a meat distribution factory. One day, when she finished with her work schedule, she went into the meat cold room (Freezer) to inspect something, but in a moment of misfortune, the door closed and she was locked inside with no help in sight. Although she screamed and knocked with all her might, her cries went unheard as no one could hear her. Most of the workers had already gone, and outside the cold room it's impossible to hear what was going on inside. Five hours later, whilst she was at the verge of death, the security guard of the factory eventually opened the door. She was miraculously saved from dying that day. When she later asked the security guard how he had come to open the door, which wasn't his usual work routine, this was his explanation:
"I've been working in this factory for 35 years. Hundreds of workers come in and out every day, but you're one of the few who greet me in the morning and say goodbye to me every evening when leaving after work. Many treat me as if I'm invisible. Today, as you reported for work, like all other days, you greeted me in your simple manner 'Hello'. But this evening after working hours, I curiously observed that I had not heard your "Bye, see you tomorrow". Hence, I decided to check around the factory. I look forward to your 'hi' and 'bye' every day because they remind me that I am someone. By not hearing your farewell today, I knew something had happened. That's why I was searching every where for you."
Moral Lesson to reflect upon: Be humble, love and respect those around you. Try to have an impact on people who cross your path every day, you never know what tomorrow will bring. Let this story be an inspiration. Let's share to inspire others; someone shared this to inspire me and I've been greatly inspired by this story.

A notorious cultist and ex-convict, Ibrahim Oriyomi Balogun, a.k. a. Small Jaypron, was on Friday re-arraigned in Lagos barely a year he was prosecuted for cult-related offences.
Balogun, 35, who was alleged to be terrorising Somolu area of Lagos, is being prosecuted at an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court for belonging to a secret cult.
Balogun was arraigned sometime in 2016 for charges bordering on murder, possession of firearms and belonging to a cult.
He was remanded in prison pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The DPP had advised that the murder charge should be dropped for a lesser charge of belonging to an unlawful society.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge of belonging to an unlawful society brought against him.
Police Insp. Chinalu Uwadione, the prosecutor, had told the court that the accused committed the offence sometime in January 2016 at Somolu, Lagos.
He said Balogun, an ex-convict, belonged to an unlawful society known as “Eiye confraternity”.
The offence contravened Section 42(1), (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Oluyemisi Adelaja, granted the accused a bail of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must be gainfully employed, while the other surety must be living in his own house.
Further hearing has been fixed for Oct. 16.

I didn’t demand N7bn from Obiano – Peter Obi
A former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, said on Wednesday he did not demand for N7billion from his successor, Willie Obiano.
The ex-governor said he left about $156million in bank, N25billion cash and N25billion in local investment for his successor.
Obi said he has never supported any candidate for personal benefits.
He also denied nursing ambition to be the vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019.
Obi, who made the clarifications in a chat with journalists in Abuja, asked Governor Obiano to join him in church and swear an oath on the N7billion controversy.
He said: “Let me ask a question, you all are educated and it is on record in this country and documented, I can prove it with every clear documented evidence that when I left office , I left over N25billion in local investment for Anambra State. I left over N25 billion in cash in the bank. I also left $156 million in the bank in Nigeria. Do you think anyone can leave such money and go to beg the person he is handing over to give him N7 billion when I left over N75 billion?
“I would have taken the N7billion first, then give them the balance and I will still be in good shape. Let me use the dollar as example. Nobody has ever left $1 in any state in Nigeria. I left $156 million. About $30million alone is over N7billion. If I had taken chances and left $120million, I will still be a champion. So why will I leave that one and go begging for peanut?
“Why would I need the money and then go to beg the person I handed over to give me N7billion? I would have taken it. Let us be rational about all these.
“What is the idea behind this? It is sheer madness for anybody to do it. Not even in a family business, I cannot leave money and then go back to beg my brother talk less of handing over to somebody who is not my brother and who can change tomorrow.
“So, it is sheer blackmail, I have never and I am a Christian. I am not supposed to swear but I can put my hand in any form of oath to say I have never discussed with anybody to be paid any amount. Let Obiano himself come, let us go before hierarchy of our church or anything to swear. I have never done that and I will never do it.
“At this stage of my life, I cannot support anybody’s political aspiration for personal benefits. I have passed that stage. God has been very gracious to me. I did not go into politics in need. I was already a director in three financial institutions, a director in four other major companies out of which it was by the virtue of my investment I was running a successful family business.”
“If anything, going into politics made me poorer but I won’t question anything because that is where God wants me to be.
“Whatever happens to me is God’s design and I respect that. For me, all I want is for us to have a better society; caring for the poor, caring for the people.”

Be careful of what you say today because of tomorrow...
The Rip-vam-wrinkle-world.
The world was created by God, but now things are not as God created them before. Life is an aspect of act that people live in the world, the world changes as life changes. People have no choice but to accept the world and life how they see it.
God did not create anybody to become rich, neither did he create anybody to become poor. It is you who can make yourself rich. One can wake up tomorrow to say that the world is rip-vam-wrinkle. People who see themselves in a state of penury are being made slaves by those who see themselves on top the world.
It's no surprise for people to die but the only role for people to play is to live their life well.
Life is a food, eat it. Life is a game, play it. You know what you ought to do and what u ought not.
